Frequently Asked Questions about MP3 Streaming:

If you already have an MP3 Player installed but you’re unable to hear anything, try uninstalling your MP3 player and reinstalling the most recent version. Click below for links to popular MP3 players.

Winamp | VLC | iTunes | XMMS | Windows Media Player

1.) How do I listen through an audio link on a Website?

In order for you to enjoy our programming, you’ll need to download and install an MP3 player. Many computer systems have at least a basic MP3 player installed already. Try clicking on a "listen" link first to see if it works.

2.) Can I access content from WebTV?

No. WebTV currently supports onyl RealAudio 3.0 as a streaming format. Even if we used RealAudio, the technology has changed so much since RealAudio 3.0 that we couldn't possibly support it. Technology changes, and sometimes it's not possible to support every format out there. Sometimes, the only way to get the full Internet experience is to have an actual computer.

3.) How do I listen to WHRW from work?

Most businesses have something called a firewall that can affect how you listen to our streams. If you think this may apply to you, ask your company's IT staff how to configure your MP3 player to work correctly with the firewall. If they tell you that you can't listen to WHRW at work, quit your job and find one that cares a little more about good radio.

4.) Sometimes I click on your streaming links and I get an error message that says either "404 File Not Found" or my MP3 player launches and them tells me it can't find the stream.

In this case you should email our webmaster and alert us of the problem.

5.) Sometimes when I listen to your stream, the MP3 player says "Rebuffering", the audio will break up making it impossible to listen. What causes this situation?

There are a number of causes of Net Congestion and lets take a minute here and explore each of them:

Bad connection to your ISP - You may have a poor connection to the internet. Try disconnecting and redialing your connection to the internet. Sometimes this will give you a better connection.

Surfing the Web while listening to Music – If you try to view a Web page with lots of graphics, you may not have enough capacity to simultaneously listen to our live feed. Click the Stop button on your web browser and see if it gets better.

Traffic On The Internet – Like commuting on your local highways, traffic on the Internet is subject to traffic jams. When things are busy on the Internet, part of the audio and video information can be lost. When too much information is lost, the MP3 player will have trouble playing music or displaying video, and will display a message indicating "rebuffering." Try re-clicking on the link, this may help establish a better connection to the server.

Traffic on the Binghamton University campus - Our server is located on the campus of Binghamton University, which means that during the school year, our connection is shared by thousands of students. If you're a parent, teach your pre-college-aged children that there's more to life than downloading Blink 182 MP3s and using AOL Instant Messenger for 15 hours a day.

6.) Regardless of what I do, I still can’t seem to get your live feed to work!

There can be other factors individual to computer set-up that have not been given here. For more trouble-shooting tips, contact your Internet Service Provider. If problems still persist, it may be that there is something wrong or incorrectly set up on your computer that will prevent it from working correctly. You may need to seek the advice of a computer-savvy friend or take your computer in for service.
